Across the nations of Welund, one thing that remains constant is the sway that the churches hold over the governance of the lands. They hold the most reliable means of petitioning for the blood of the divine, a necessary component in any resurrection spells, and thus they hold influence over royalty and nobles everywhere. None who could afford to be raised want to risk angering the churches, for fear that their petition be denied in the event of a tragedy.
The races have been living together for as long as any can recall, save for small villages, and a few exceptionally insular towns. Though there’s no shortage of anecdotal hostility between the races, this seldom extends beyond rivalry and low-brow humour.
